In 2021, Chapters4Change partnered with the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) to work together toward a shared vision and goal of creating a culture of transformative and impactful change within the field of education through offering Learning Circles (LCs) to DSBN faculty, staff, and educators. These LCs promote anti-bias, anti-racism, and anti-oppression education and work toward creating sustainable change. Furthermore, they help to create inclusive spaces for all by engaging educators in courageous and meaningful conversations around equity, diversity, and inclusion and collaborating to discover actions which can be taken to ensure we achieve equitable outcomes for all students at the elementary and post-secondary levels. Together we are committed to disrupting the status quo by working to identify and remove systematic barriers, amplify student voices, and create culturally and historically responsive curricula. We want to thank DSBN for their partnership with us.

In 2022, Chapters4Change partnered with Stay Strong Collective (SSC) to work collaboratively toward their shared goal of creating safe, inclusive, and equitable spaces within the Niagara Region. Co-founder of Chapters4Change, Janice Desroches (she/her), is a Board Member for SSC and is actively involved in working with SSC to offer wellness activities and Learning Circles (LCs) to members of the Niagara community. The LCs offered through SSC focus on the promotion of education, reflection, collaboration, action, and sustainable change. As well, the LCs are aimed at amplifying the voices of people within various communities including the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, & People of Colour), 2SLGBTQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, queer, intersex, asexual/agender, +), and disability communities, in order to represent and celebrate the diversity within the Niagara Region.

Our first LC through SSC will see participants working closely through 'From Why to Fly: Personal Stories and Advice on Mental, Physical, and Other Life Challenges'. Throughout this amazing book, authored by Stay Strong Collective's Founder/Director Jessica VictoriaJessica shares deeply about her own personal experiences and provides advice around mental health, disability, and LGBTQ+ identity. This book serves as a support tool for those experiencing similar life situations to those Jessica outlines, as well as an educational tool for loved ones to encourage understanding and acceptance. Chapters4Change values this community partnership and looks forward to our upcoming LCs through SSC which will run the months of June-July 2022. Stay tuned!

Education got us into this mess,
and education will get us out of it."
